checked out a 66 galaxie fastback today that a friend of a friend is selling, had a 352 big block with a 2 barrel and dual pipes all the way back. sounded awesome. those cars look sweet even if you can fit 2 mini coopers in the trunk.

I still work one half day a week for 3 or 4 hours at Contes for the entertainment value and to keep some relationships alive. Why I get questioned repeatedly about the rest of the towns shops and whats going on at them, I do not know, but I do, like I am some all knowing entity thats constantly in the loop. Just because I know a lot of people...but that is just my old employers personality. Anyway, Emily said something to me today that I found humorous on a variety of levels, and something I have pointed out before. She called a local shop up for help on something and got flat out denied. Even got questioned as to why she was asking, and who on earth she even was. Having called many shops in town repeatedly in the past and having personally been in each of them for one thing or another, I can confidently say this is the only one in town that acts like this. Since I am no longer an official representative of anybody, I say it openly and with affirmation. The guys up at Carytown bikes are, more often than not, suffering from the stick up your ass syndrome, and find it satisfying to turn down anyone that isnt cool enough. To be blunt, they ignore Contes phone number every time, so if someone there needs to get in touch, they have to use a cell phone. Furthermore, anytime Carytown has ever needed anything from Charles, or the shop, he has happily lent it to them, or sold it to them at cost. Anytime Contes needed anything from Carytown, it was purchased at full blown retail, or the very blunt and precise response of --No-- sounded on the other end of the phone. I find is fascinating that a shop that stresses so much on the importance of strong community ties and relationships, and is so involved in the quote racing scene here... since after all, thats how a strong cycling community stays together and achieves the most they can, through strong community ties... goes out of their way to personify the complete opposite, many times over.

Bravo guys, youre making a huge impact.

To my friends, or the ones that dont already know all of this to begin with anyway, if you ever need anything, 9 times out of 10 it is in a box in my living room. If you need anything fixed, 10 times out of 10 I can help you out with that. Avoid this place, it is not worth your time. If you wanna shop retail, I have several wonderful suggestions for you. 5 years in something isnt long, but its long enough to know whos worth it.

got bored and made a weak but quick and simple yeastless pizza dough with some water and flour and b-soda and salt and oil. had a bit of mozz cheddar and parm laying around, cut up some more garlic, used some more o-oil, used the last of the weak ass jar of kroger pzza sauce and put a bit of basil on it all. added a bit of ham and mushrooms to it since I had it here already.

it turned out all right, not great, but ok. I calculate it cost about 2 dollars for the collective ingredient amounts.

made some basic brown sugah cookies too, they turned out considerably better, all they were was some brown sugah, butter, flour, b-soda, cinnamon, ginger (but I had none so I used pumpkin spice, did stellar), an egg and some vanilla. Another cumulative 2 dollars, got 27 cookies out of the dough ball.

sat down with my 1 dollar videofan movie and had a glass out of my 4 dollar bottle of tisdale.

thats less than a 6 dollar night for a whole pizza, a batch of cookies, a glass of wine, and a dvd.

had a lonely full box of spinach my brother left here before injury #2 took him away, and it was days from hitting the back door as fresh spinach always is (note to self just buy frozen spinach) so I chopped up some garlic cloves and put the spinach with some chopped mushrooms and garlic in o-oil on medium, added most of a half pint of whipping cream and a heavy splash of milk, grated parmesan, s and p, basil, and a pinch of onion powder and a tbsp of flour, simmered for 15 and this happened.

crockpotted the 4.5 pound chicken yesterday for about 7.5 hours with some potatoes and carrots thrown in at hours 4 and 6, turned out awesome. only used some mrs dash and garlic powder, dash of kosher salt and a bit of paprika. stuck a stick of butter up its ass tho... separated it all last night after the chicken meal and put it in the fridge. saved the bones and icky stuff and cooked it on low overnight in the resulting juices, strained it this morning and refrigerated the liquid, scraped the fat off the top later and and had 2 cups of fresh chicken broth for the potpie recipe. made the pot pie today as seen below with a bangin recipe I found, and used all the spare chicken to make a big bowl of chicken salad with grapes and celery and carrots and all that, it should last a weeks worth of lunches.

Bargain cooking made delicious.

also, I am randomly friends with the dude from river city that gave me my first tattoo, his name is max and the other day he had this to say, which I found both entertaining and interesting. Im not saying im in 100% agreement, but I could see myself getting along with him very well.

I have a whole chicken in the freezer sitting next to three racks of ribs and 2 pork shoulders I am saving for the superbowl. I just realized I can just put that chicken in the crock pot tomorrow all day with some veggies and spices, and I can have a bangin chicken dinner tomorrow night, followed by endless possibilities of creations with all the leftover chicken including but not limited to home made pot pies, chicken and stuffing and rice cheesy casserole, chicken and dumplings/biscuits, chicken noodle soup, and chicken or chicken salad sandwiches.

spent all day at Ness house with rory josh blake ness peanut the twinks jasce hunter some others? etc Id say we grilled, but I think all we did was warm up the coals and drink a lot of beer and build stuff and order fu-jian. went to a little shindig on marshall which was terrible, went to cous which was even worse, came home which was awesome, and spent the entire day with the exception of those 90 minutes elsewhere completely with friends which was awesomest.

my classmate allison and I had to go visit the easy end to take pictures of some civil war earthworks in time to talk about them this wednesday for our cultural resources management class (archaeology and shit) and made a few pit stops while we were out. our friends ness and chelsea tagged along for the entertainment value, and ness drove my car because the rest of us wanted to drink beer the whole time. the goal was to go visit elko tract aka the lost city of richmond, evergreen cemetery (thank you emily for directions) which unfortunately for the unspeakable dead at rest has gone completely to shit, and of course the project itself. conveniently they are all within a couple miles of each other.

we tooled around at two earthworks, stopped at a church for the sake of shotgunning beers on church grounds and looking for a cross to steal (no dice) We didnt quite make it to elko, we saw the water tower but didnt get inside the quote unquote city, and it was too dark for decent pictures. instead we found some equipment on a lot on technology drive and played with their fire extinguishers. then we went to evergreen and roamed the place for a bit. all in all a good class field trip. it wasnt super badass but lots of beer and fast driving and exploration.

through one way or another that hobbies and potential talent dont necessarily equal passion. I already know that if I take an interest in something that I can figure out how to be good at it, I dont need reminders or acknowledgement of that. What I need is to learn to stop doing things based solely on the fact that im good at it. I need to do things because they make me happy. I understood the separation between these two arguably positive feelings today driving home from work. I was at work wondering why I was not enjoying myself, once again doing the same shit for the same price for the same kind of people back in my service area (not enjoyable? shocking), and decided to leave earlier than my normal early monday departure. Literally on my way out the door I got a phone call that perked up my attitude quite a bit, and sat down in the car and chatted about someone else making decisions to better their current position, then flipped the volume up and hit the road blasting some shitty pop punk. rolled the windows down, since its 75 degrees outside, and had a smile on my face the whole way home.

now that doesnt mean that what I need to do is drive cars with the windows down and listen to music on a sunny day to be happy, but it made me realize the difference between the two feelings, knowing that you are good at something and youre doing it for someone who is paying you, and doing something because you love doing it, and youre still getting paid. honestly, the money part I dont give a shit about, unfortunately the world revolves around it so I gotta have some. Additionally, I am finding out more and more that I want to create something of my own, where I can work for myself. Im narrowing my potential options and thinking things out pretty hard in my mind. Its a lot to swallow though.
