a fair amount of good ideas lately, just random thoughts that came to me ive been real satisfied with, no other way to describe it really. Personal projects finally taking serious shape and the like. Fun plans for the spring too.
more good news, my “internship” hired me, mostly because I rule. More fun to come.
and, ironically, a few mtb rides and coughing up a lung and cracking a rib for a week straight made my abs and back way too tight so now im moderately fit and lost 7 pounds in the past 5 days, dropped that winter weight gain, perfect start to my spring fitness routine....
flu on the backburner finally...can confidently say that was the worst bug Ive caught since freshman year 2005. completely physically miserable and 100% isolated and alone. depressing shit. gone now though, move along move along.
Final thought. The world (the shit people say on facebook) is so disappointing.
seriously.

corporate/govt scandals aside...
Id like to make this very, very clear that I dont have a firmly rooted opinion on whats going on, mostly because everyone seems to be getting all their information from tumblrs and online newspapers, which hold no truths whatsoever for me....
...but, Id like to present the very valid point concerning the fact that these pharmacies that are now refusing to sell contraceptive etc. are getting shit on way too much by young women, and men, (despite the fact Im relatively positive all this is is simply govt money exchanging hands) and there is a very simple point no one seems to be taking into account.
A true democrat (since all of you seem to passionately hate republicans) argues for the rights and benefits of freedom of action and choice, ---100%--- freedom of action and choice. Unfortunately women in politics are grossly underrepresented, but this is still the democratic mantra.
If a woman chooses to have an abortion (or to purchase products that would prevent the necessity of one) for whatever reason; she had a bad night, she got raped or put in an unfairly compromising position, she got hammered at a house party, whatever, then she has EVERY RIGHT TO DO SO.
If a company, private, public, or corporate, chooses not to sell contraceptive, THEY HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DO SO. Their only responsibility would be to clearly communicate that they do not offer the service, and people can take their wallets elsewhere.
little bit of the pot calling the kettle black going on lately...

some people
understand change is inevitable, and learn to roll with it. others dont, but one way or another it has to be accepted. whether or not you let it alter you positively or negatively is completely up to you. age and experience have nothing to do with it. just your personality and your grasp on your own life and the things and people in it that contribute to it. life alters you. what would be the point in living if you didnt let life change you.

perspective

I found out last night apparently 3 days is a long time. I sort of more see that as 3 days. More of a short time. Apparently its still long enough to find it acceptable to make someone feel isolated and alienated.
Im not concerned with being dropped in the restaurant business, but I think the pertinent association with life qualifies this as relevant, substitue restaurant business, food, and eating with what you will--
“I’ve never regretted the unexpected left turn that dropped me in the restaurant business. And I’ve long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk.” -Anthony Bourdain.

I like
to fix cars better than bikes. I also like when you alone are responsible for your work and ultimately your income, and you are the sole contributor to your outlook on others.
checked out a 66 galaxie fastback today that a friend of a friend is selling, had a 352 big block with a 2 barrel and dual pipes all the way back. sounded awesome. those cars look sweet even if you can fit 2 mini coopers in the trunk.

Im depleting the collection of bike shit constantly at my house, if anyone wants some cool bike shit, (which I know you dont) (im selling a lot of it.
I still work one half day a week for 3 or 4 hours at Contes for the entertainment value and to keep some relationships alive. Why I get questioned repeatedly about the rest of the towns shops and whats going on at them, I do not know, but I do, like I am some all knowing entity thats constantly in the loop. Just because I know a lot of people...but that is just my old employers personality. Anyway, Emily said something to me today that I found humorous on a variety of levels, and something I have pointed out before. She called a local shop up for help on something and got flat out denied. Even got questioned as to why she was asking, and who on earth she even was. Having called many shops in town repeatedly in the past and having personally been in each of them for one thing or another, I can confidently say this is the only one in town that acts like this. Since I am no longer an official representative of anybody, I say it openly and with affirmation. The guys up at Carytown bikes are, more often than not, suffering from the stick up your ass syndrome, and find it satisfying to turn down anyone that isnt cool enough. To be blunt, they ignore Contes phone number every time, so if someone there needs to get in touch, they have to use a cell phone. Furthermore, anytime Carytown has ever needed anything from Charles, or the shop, he has happily lent it to them, or sold it to them at cost. Anytime Contes needed anything from Carytown, it was purchased at full blown retail, or the very blunt and precise response of --No-- sounded on the other end of the phone. I find is fascinating that a shop that stresses so much on the importance of strong community ties and relationships, and is so involved in the quote racing scene here... since after all, thats how a strong cycling community stays together and achieves the most they can, through strong community ties... goes out of their way to personify the complete opposite, many times over.
Bravo guys, youre making a huge impact.
To my friends, or the ones that dont already know all of this to begin with anyway, if you ever need anything, 9 times out of 10 it is in a box in my living room. If you need anything fixed, 10 times out of 10 I can help you out with that. Avoid this place, it is not worth your time. If you wanna shop retail, I have several wonderful suggestions for you. 5 years in something isnt long, but its long enough to know whos worth it.
